A weekend full of celebrating!

As many of you know, Matthew's life was vastly effected by a drunk driving accident his family fell victim to when he was 7 years old.  MADD (Mothers against drunk driving) stepped in and helped his family in one of their most desperate times of need. Our family feels a special calling to advocate for safe drinking and volunteer for MADD. MADD provides many services and support to victims every year and relys heavily on volunteering and community outreach and participation to continue its effort.  Matthew serves in many ways and so do I.  As chairman of MADD's annual celebration of life, Matthews main goal this year was to organize a ceremony that would allow just that, families and other victims to come and celebrate the life of their loved ones they lost to a drunk driving accident.  Sharing their stories and their lives with other people who have experienced the same type of loss is not only therapeutic but also impactful to the community.  We constantly remind ourselves that you never know when you touch someone, make an impact or alter the course of someones life with one decision.

The day was beautiful, the sun was shining and it certainly felt like a good day to be celebrating the life of loved ones.
Matching shirts?
Candles "lit" to represent loved ones.
Each person received a balloon in which they could write their loved ones name for a balloon release.

After the ceremony we had a big family picnic.  It was a blast!

After the MADD celebration of life, Aunt Cindy had a surprise birthday party at The Rainbow Lodge.  It was delicious!  Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the evening, but Paxton did.  These pictures were taken by Pax :)We had a great night celebrating her birthday!

The next day cousin Nicole was baptized at church.  Pax enjoyed Sunday School and we had a great lunch afterwards.

Don't you love cooperating children :)
