Tuesday and Wednesday this past week were TAKS days... even though I don't teach a TAKS grade... my sweet 2nd graders are very much effected by the test. We were cooped in our classroom both Tuesday and Wednesday all day (with the exception of a wiggle break here and there in the gym) and we had to put up with each other all day for two days. It was rough but we survived. Thursday was our 2nd grade field trip and it was awesome. We went and saw the DisneyNature movie African Cats. OMG - tear jerker. The theme of the movie was "A Mothers Love" and it revolved around telling the story of two different African Cat mothers (a cheetah named Sita and a lioness named Layla). They chronicled their lives over the course of a year and told their story. It was an amazing movie and done so well. It captured the essence of a mothers unconditional love through the act of sacrifice. I really thought I was going to have to take care of my students during the movie an instead they were worried about me because I was crying... so sweet.
Matthew and I went out for Mexican food that night, which leads me to Friday....
Friday- What a day.... it proved to be a rather eventful day with a super sweet ending. First of all... my kiddos had field day. Another crazy day in 2nd grade, yet full of fun. I on the other hand dealt with some rather strange symptoms all morning. The night before, around 9, I started having a throbbing pain underneath my right breast bone. I dismissed it and went to bed... I assumed it was indigestion or something, from the mexican food. Well, I woke up Friday feeling nauseated, sweating even though I wasn't hot and still had the pain. I just didn't feel right. I have had a drama free pregnancy so far and I just knew something wasn't right. Through a series of conversations with nurses and my mom I ended up leaving school and going to my doctor where I was told I was having a gallbladder attack. Needless to say... my life is changed for the time being. I now eat 6-8 small meals a day, clean eating only and monitoring my gallbladder. Gallbladder issues run in my family and I pretty much knew I would deal with it at some point. My main concern was Paxton but he is perfectly fine :) I, at this point, will not have to have it removed or anything but I do have to modify my eating habits so that I never over work my gallbladder. I am so glad that I trusted my instincts :)
That evening was the sweet ending we needed to our crazy week....
Matthews family threw us a precious baby shower for our future little all star!
There were many family members and family friends there and it was a beautiful evening filled with food, fun and a showering of gifts for baby Paxton. Matthew was able to take home some really sentimental items from his childhood (see the picture below of all the clothes hanging... those were Matthews... can you see the lederhosen??) like his baseball ball that hung in his room and had his name engraved on it.... his sports bookends, and a bib made by his mom when he was born.
Royal Homes "I get the royal treatment"
We also got Paxton's game day stroller from Paxton's Aunt Ashley and Uncle Thomas as well as a Daddy to be t shirt for Matthew and a sweet onesie just from Uncle Thomas (check out the picture).
Paxton's Great Grandma Reibenstein got us an awesome baby exersaucer that will grow with him and a sweet bib made out of a 12th man towel and Aggie t shirt:) Above all, the shower itself was a beautiful gift and was hosted by Paxton's Aunt Ashley, Uncle Thomas and Great Grandma Reibenstein.
All of the guests showered us with such sweet things and Matthew and I both looked at eachother afterward and couldn't believe that all of this stuff was for a baby that would be ours in just 11 weeks. It is definitely sinking in that we will be parents sooner than we think :)
Until next time... lots of love!
