The past month has been the month of growth and change for Paxton. We went to his 6 month well visit and he now weighs 17 pounds is 27" long and we found out he has a very small head , haha. I joked with Matthew that I hope all of our babies have small heads so they shoot out as fast as Paxton did. I said I was joking but I'm really not! :) Our pediatrician basically said he is tall and lean, oh how I wish I was tall and lean :) He was a champ with his shots and showed his goofy self the entire appointment.
Paxton is eating every 3 to 4 hours now and has been eating fruits and vegetables now for over a month and LOVES them! His favorites are apples, bananas, peaches, carrots, oatmeal with banana or oatmeal with apples and sweet potatoes. We are now working towards a breakfast and dinner with solid foods! We introduced a Sippy cup and we put water in it for him to drink while he eats his fruits and vegetables. He is so precious because he holds his little cup and half the time chews on the spout of the cup and then tilts his little head back for a drink. This is, to me, when I can already see his determined spirit. He will drink and wait for me say "good job" and then he'll flash me a sweet smile and do it again. I cherish our times together when he is eating in his high chair. They are so fun and he is so happy siting like a big boy. Speaking of siting, as of last weekend, Paxton is now sitting up all on his own. He is still a little wobbly at first but has been a trooper when he falls over.
Sitting up has opened up a whole new world for him. He plays with his toys differently, sits in my lap differently and has a whole new confidence about him. He is so extremely happy and that makes me happy. He smiles at everything and everyone... His giggle is contagious...
He loves to be tickeled - especially on the sides and armpits and under his neck :) Paxton is rolling over constantly and loves to sqeal...We now have the child who squeals in restaurants and the grocery store that I used to cut my eyes at... I love it though and when he does it I do it back so I am probably teaching him bad habits... oops! He loves cause and effect games like peek a boo, "I'm gonna get you" followed by tickles, dropping a toy and picking it back up for him and repetition games... like the squealing back and forth.
He is talking all the time... he says babababa.....gagagagaga..... dadadadada and mamamama (only when he is hungry or sleepy, go figure :)) I swear he is going to be such a talker because he will carry on a 5 minute conversation with me on a daily basis :)
He loves to read with me and his favorites are Chicka Chicka boom boom and all of his puffy board books like trucks and tractors. His favorite toys are all of his teething toys and especially his Nuby ring that his Great Uncle Tim and Leah gave him... he will chew, knaw on that thing forever. He loves to play with his dance and learn puppy and lately really loves his construction set Santa gave him. Bathtime is probably still his favorite time of the day - but now he sits on the other side of the baby bathtub, the side for when babies are sitting up and no longer need to lean back... he is growing up! He absolutely loves to kick and jump. He has loved to kick since he was a little newborn and still loves to kick super hard when he is laying down on his changing table. We have a doorway jumper and he absolutley loves it. His personality is really starting to shine through... he is so sweet and snuggles and kisses (basically opens his mouth and sucks on your face, hehe)... he is super flirty and a charmer and happy all of the time. He is super silly and always making goofy faces and squeals with delight over everything! He giggles, well, belly laughs constantly and has quite the temper and no patience. He is so stinkin precious and Im not just saying that because he is my baby!
I look back on the past 6 months and I have learned so much as a mom, a woman, a daughter, a wife. The biggest thing I have learned though is to cherish every moment you have with the ones you love. Ya'll... these past 6 months have flown by and im not going to lie- its scary how fast the time went by. The other night I was putting Paxton to bed thinking to myself "ok Katy, lay him down, he needs to put himself to sleep" but instead, I held him in my arms and just cried... I smelt his hair, kissed his little cheek, rested my head on his and I held him and rocked him to sleep. I never want to forget how sweet, loveable and small he is right now and I want to cherish every moment. I know he will grow up and I know thats a good thing, but for now, I am loving his tiny little self just the way he is.
Prayers for our family would be greatly appreciated - please just pray that God will lay a hand on our family and help us through some decisions these next few months.
