10 Months and family update...

The reality of how quickly time goes by really hits me when I look at the dates I blog.  I completely missed posting about Paxton at 10 and 11 months :(  So much has happened the past month in a half that I have avoided blogging because of the overwelming feeling that rises up inside when I realize how much I have to cover.  But, here I am trying to squeeze in a 10 month post while Paxton naps.

When Paxton turned 10 months old on May 14, I knew right away I was going to love this "age".  He became so much more animated and curious. He had been crawling for a month by then but his confidence hadn't quite caught up with his newfound mobility.  This month though he realized that crawling gave him an independence he had never known before.  He was excited to be put down to explore.    He started pulling up on things which again allowed him to explore new areas of the house, yikes! We had to be very careful about what we had on tops of furniture... we never had to worry about it before.  He also starting "slimming down" - my little chunka monk was learning to crawl and move so quickly that all of his "baby fat" started slipping away.  :)  Paxton has a horrible time teething.  When he is teething he doesn't sleep, want to eat, his ears hurt and he only wants mommy.  We had alot of teething this month as he got one of his upper front teeth - that was an experience (you can see the morning of pictures below).  Pax man is still sweet, cuddly and oh so animated.  He has started pushing me away :(, when he wants to just go, which is okay... I knew it was going to happen.  But, I cherish those times when he comes crawling and squealing to me and climbs up my arms to get a squeeze... those are the sweetest moments.

We had quite a bit go on in our family this month... Paxton and I went to Target and shared a bag of Goldfish and a bottle of water for the first time.  I had one of those warm fuzzy mments as it reminded me of sharing popcorn and and ICEE with my mom at the Target on Jones road.   Matthew got 1st place in his first triathlon!!! Unfortunately, Paxton and I weren't there, but we celebrated and rejoiced with him!  Matthew had major hernia surgery and was out of commision for about a week.  We spent alot of time cuddling and recovering.  Paxton went to Ms. Jenny's house during the day so I could focus on Matthew and it kinda felt like a mini vacation for the two of us, it was nice I'm not gonna lie. :)  Matthew had a great surgeon and an awesome recovery.

I also had my first Mothers Day the weekend after matthews surgery.  It was so special. We woke up and went and had breakfast with my parents at both Moms and mine (I know thats not grammaticaly correct, oops) favorite place, another broken egg.  There he presented me with two gifts, I dont have a picture of it but one was that he got my favorite picture of Paxton in the bluebonnets, the one in his cowboy hat, and had it blown up with the quote, "mommas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" on it. He had it framed and we have it hanging in our bedroom.  I absolutely suck at getting pictures printed and hung so he knows how much it meant to me to have it.  His second gift was a day date, just the two of us, to the movie theater to see The Hunger Games! Those of you that know Matthew know how big of a deal this is because 1, he hates the movie theater, 2, he hates the Hunger games (he is secretly freaked out that it could actually happen) and 3, he had just had major surgery and sitting still for a couple hours was going to be a challenge.  My parents watched Paxton while we had our date and it was wonderful.  Later that afternoon my parents and I met up with my moms side of the family for lunch/early dinner so I was able to see my Grandma too.  It was the perfect mothers day for me :)

Crawling boy needed soccer leg protectors for his little legs... thanks, Pammie!
