This month was also the first time Matthew and I spent a few days away from Pax. We decided that we wanted to take a mini trip just the two of us, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, which at first made me feel guilty and then later made me feel silly for not doing it sooner. I think its easy to forget what its like living just you and your spouse once baby comes along. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that - but, its nice to have uninterrupted, focused one on one time with one another. I am not ashamed to admit that I (we) thoroughly enjoyed getting away for a few days, especially knowing Pax was in good hands with his Pammie. We came home better parents and It truly made coming home that much sweeter :)
Paxtons little personality grows and changes on a daily basis. He is super focused on listening and observing while also trying to say words. Some of his favorites are Mom (he doesn't say momma or mommy, he says mom), dadda, pa (for opa), /p/ (pammie), dog, bubble, tisses (kisses), uh oh, yeah, tank you, na (no) and ohhh. At this point he is starting to shift his thinking from verbal to physical and is getting ready to take his first steps. He will scale the walls, furniture and take a few steps from me to the couch. We are working on balancing and teaching him that he is strong enough and capable of letting go and walking. Our pediatrician explained that babies focus on one thing at a time... physical, verbal, social etc. I know he will walk when he is good and ready, but for now, he bear crawls everywhere and walks while holding our hands. He loves to hug and give tisses. I just take as many as I can get!! He is also super ticklish (just like Matthew and myself!) I can't tell you how many nights we play on our bed tickling and being silly! Oh and by the way, the overall theme for this month is: Teething!!!!! FYI mommas and daddys, so you cant say that no one warned you like I say now... teething sucks! Now granted every child is different, God Bless you if you managed to have an "easy teether" but for those of us that don't, they should have a support group for us. Just kidding, kind of. HA.
Matthew is training as hard as ever for his Ironman and while there are days we dont get to spend as much time together as a family of 3 as we would like, we treasure the time we do have! He is working so hard and is well on his way to being an Ironman!! I have started my half marathon training (eek) and have set a goal to finish in 2:30 this year (I finished in 2:59 last year). Training has proven to be difficult at times with my co-pilot in tow (aka Paxton and the BOB) but I am determined to get there and trek on! I am inspired daily by my hardcore husband :)
I hope you enjoy some pictures from Aug 15-Sept 14! I don't think I take enough pictures, ha! Oh, and can you tell I discovered Instagram this month? :)
