I saw on Pinterest many, many months ago an idea for a party called a Favorite Things party. I immediately got excited and recruited mom to co-host one of these parties with me :). We decided on a Christmas themed party and planned to have it early (Dec 1) in the Christmas season (we all know how busy everyones holiday schedules can get). The Evites went out explaining to leave babies and husbands at home (Matthew took Pax and had a daddy/son day), pick a favorite thing (no more than $6) and buy 5 of that item. Come to the favorite things party, share your favorite thing and then shop everyones items only to come home with 5 new things at the end of the party! Bring 5, take home 5 new things! Best of all, hear about everyone elses favorite things to get gift ideas, or to just learn about some other great products that are out there.
The party was from 10-1 so we served brunchy food (is that a word?) ... breakfast casserole, cheesy potatoes, cinnamon apples, mini buicuits, kolaches, crackers with cream cheese, mini Santa brownies, mini quiche, strawberry salad and santa hat snacks! We decided to go with a Santa theme (God Bless Pinterest and all the crafty, creative people out there I can copy) and tried to add as many Santa details as we could. Made up a mimosa bar (yummm), coffee and hot chocolate stations and chowed down with some of our best girl friends!
We gave each guest a Santa suit shopping bag with a Christmas notepad and fuzzy pen as a favor and before the shopping began, each had an opportunity to share our favorite thing (aka make our shopping list- some of our shoppers acted more anxious and excited than shoppers at Wal-mart on Black Friday(from the mouth ofJoy :)) Each guest had a number on their name tag which indicated which shopping group they were in. Because we each got to take home 5 items, we had 5 rounds of shopping and each round you picked one item. Each group had an opportunity to shop first at least one round and when it came down to the end of the shopping, I'm pretty sure everyone got at least one or two of their top list picks! (all of the things people brought were awesome!)
I think we honestly had the most fun hearing about each others favorite things and just enjoying fellowship with one another. We are all so busy with jobs, babies, kids and husbands that the 3 hours we all spent together at the party allowed for life to slow down just long enough to do something fun for ourselves and hang out with some pretty awesome people. So many of my dear friends and family made an effort to be there and that was really special to me.
We hope to make this an annual party - switching up some things for next year... maybe dropping the number of items to 4 and increasing the spending limit to $10 per item (it was hard to stick to less than $6). Who knows... but what I do know, is that it was a lot of fun and definitely got me in the Christmas spirit!

The fabulous group of women... I love you girls!
Until Next time... lots of love!
