First time for everything!

New blog design but same blog, same content... just needed a little re-designing.  I am still 'amateurish' in the blogging world and I'm not quite sure I am done with the re-decorating but I am happy for now. :) Hope you like!

The month of August was as busy as the month of July.  We jammed in as much family time as we could into our short weekends together.  Pax is constantly busy, continually making connections and lately I find that just about everything we do turns into a teaching moment.  I love, love, love this age.  Everything is exciting and new.  Each day is a new day and the simplest things are the biggest deals (this is both good and bad at times :)).

As of today I am 31 weeks pregnant.  I seem to be running two countdowns in my head.  One countdown is the number of weeks we have left until we get to meet our sweet girl and welcome her into our family.  The other countdown though is the number of weeks I have left with just Paxton.  I am thinking this is normal.  Much like when we were waiting on Paxton's arrival... bittersweet feelings at times. Just being real.  I know these next 9 weeks will drag at times and seem to fly by at others.   Summer sure did seem to fly by and that scares me a little.  :)

First time at the movie theater! Matthew and I decided to attempt a movie with Pax, the new Planes movie and believe it or not, he loved it! We bought a large popcorn and stuck it between his legs... mainly so Matthew and I could both reach it (haha) but also because he loved it.  He sat in his seat and chattered the entire movie.  We already had a little planes figurine he got for his birthday so he imitated a lot with that too.  About an hour into the movie he got a little antsy and definitely needed to take a walk so Matthew left for about 5 minutes with him and brought him back, where he nicely sat in his seat until it was over.  What I thought was funny is that he laughed and would say "oh no" or "yay Dusty" at the right times.  It was too cute.  Once he stood up and attempted to say "hi" to everyone behind us but hey, if that was our only issue, he did great! As a result of this experience we are quite obsessed with "dusty" now and with playing "planes".  It's precious and I am so glad he enjoyed it at his level :)

30 weeks

Okay, so we live in the cutest small town and our local donut shop has these cars with baskets attached to them for little ones to sit in.  They also have a fire truck and let me just tell you... a happy child at breakfast paired with a pregnant lady craving donuts, we are now considered regulars :) Matthew and I have gone pretty much every Saturday the last few weeks but this particular Saturday it was "cool" outside, so we went down to the dock in our neighborhood, rolled the windows down, propped up our feet, watched the boats and just relaxed.

First time using his arm to block the sun... this would seriously be a melt down before.  Ah, the simply joys of kids "growing up".

First time losing a favorite toy: "tow tow" aka Mater the tow truck.  Thank goodness HEB had an even cooler one just a few hours after Mater disappeared... whew

Another random Brinlee outfit... I secretly hope to take some beach pictures with her in this :)

We're working on sorting... he managed to hang fallen gift cards in their correct location while I checked out at the store

First major - I mean 15 minute major - meltdown because he spilled his goldfish and then emphatically refused to pick them up.  2 timeouts later - he picked them up and said sorry.  Whew

Helping daddy fix his bike - he loves using his tools!

Kissing mater (all 50 of them) on his pajamas.  hehe

Driving on Brinlee... don't think I wont try driving a car on her back to soothe her when she arrives :)

Pax had some kind of yucky virus for a few days and so we spent lots of time snuggling and getting well.  Brinlee's Vera blanket made getting better a little easier... it is seriously the softest thing I have EVER felt.  More on where this came from later...

Painting with a paint brush and then oh forget it, our fingers.  This was a first because up until now he did not like to get paint on his fingers... he enjoyed using his fingers much more!

Pax loves stickers and all markers and crayons.  He used to really struggle with manipulating stickers because of the sticky side.  He would get it all bunched up and get frustrated.  For the first time the other day he successfully played with stickers the "right way" and was able to stick them down and make a little picture :)

Food allergy blood work followed by a family trip to the park to feed the ducks.  My goodness he loved the craziness of all the ducks, me not so much.  He had fun with his daddy though :)

Cars stickers as a reward for being a good listener in Wal-Mart.  He was so focused and had a very strong opinion on which order he wanted to use them and where he wanted them.  So cute.

Pre-school.  This will be a first.  He is going to be going 2 days a week from 9-1.  I know it's what's best for him right now even though I am struggling with some separation anxiety.  All the teachers in his school make a home visit to their students home so we had that on a Monday and then that Friday went in for meet the teacher and to meet his 8 classmates.  There are 2 teachers and a 3rd asst. teacher that floats around to the toddler rooms - they are all such warm, kind women and that immediately put my heart at ease.  He walked right in to the classroom, played the entire time we were there and pitched a fit when we had to leave.  I am praying his first day goes well - I hope we are both super happy to see each other :)

First Aggie game day of the 2013 football season!!! Where did it start? Why at the donut shop of course! We made it to college station early on Saturday where I found a cute maternity aggie shirt (Brinlee's first game!) I look like a small cow at this point in pregnancy but hey - I'm hangin' in there.  Once in our 3rd deck seats... Pax and I lasted through the 1st quarter and then I was done.  Pax was hot - he loved the game and was excited to be there.  Very curious about everything.  But, this momma was super hot and I just didn't feel good about cooking in the sun.  Pax and I left and headed to the MSC where we could sit in the air conditioning yet still watch the game.  It was perfect and we were all able to enjoy the game at our own levels.   Meeting up with Matthew and my parents afterwards was a breeze and while we attempted to go somewhere to grab dinner those plans quickly dissipated when our little Aggie fell asleep 5 minutes into the car ride. :)  Overall, a very successful first game day for all of us!

Kissing B when we got a touchdown.  He has this part down :)

Walking to the car with two of his favorite people.

These fun, busy memories are so incredibly special.  I look forward to the many more we will make as a family of four but I can't help but treasure this special time just the three of us as well!

Until next time... lots of love!
