Girl date

My mom and I spent many days together just the two of us and they are some of my most cherished childhood memories. Not really doing much of anything but just by being with her it was something.  We may not have spent a lot of money or driven very far but she always made it fun and always made it special.

This is something I've tried very hard to instill, practice and be intentional with my own kids.  Fun doesn't have to be planned or expensive.  You can make anything fun - it's all in the attitude!

This morning, Brinlee and I went on our first mommy daughter date.  We do a lot just her and I while Pax is in school but she's 17 months old so just within this past month does she enjoy and engage in activities.

We dropped Pax off at school and headed towards the Woodlands children's museum. There happens to be a children's boutique next door and Brinlee ;) insisted we go in.  They actually had shoes I've been wanting to get her for a while, the sun San sandals.  Did you know they are not only cute but are MADE to go in the water.  No more water shoes for us - these are too cute.  Brinlee got her bag and we were off to Starbucks next door for a coffee (choc milk) and snack.
Ignore the glasses - I'm having contact issues!!

Next stop, walking to the Woodlands children's museum.

She had to walk up and down every curb and through the grass - she cracks me up.

If you have not ever been to The Woodlands children's museum and you have a young child you must go.  It's phenomenal and for $5 you can have all day fun!

I let Brinlee guide our time there and her first stop was the rice tables! It's so funny because pax would have calmly poured the rice and scooped it.  Brinlee first tried to eat it and then did play with it appropriately right before throwing it on the ground.  Funny girl!
"hi Birdie!" She loved the caged birds all around
A tad freaked out by the Brinlee sized house - once she went in though she loved it.
Had a tea party with two little boys :)
Had so much fun climbing, sliding, and using the steps.  She sat on the steps for a while telling the other kids no - like they weren't allowed to get on it- who is my child? Pax would have been trampled over before doing that.  She's hilarious!
I have a picture of pax around this same age i'd love to add - she wasn't crazy about this water activity but then again I'm not surprised - she's never loved baths.
Small but mighty - loved these big blocks!
She's a great multi-tasker! Went grocery shopping, put out a fire and mopped the floors :)

We had so much fun just the two of us.  Of course we love it when Pax is with us but it's important Brinlee get special alone time too.  She had a blast and so did I- I look forward to making so many more memories with my precious daughter!
