A peek into our home...

Wow, reading my last blog post...it was way depressing... but this week we are much happier :) SO many sweet friends and family have been worried about Junior so I have given a lengthy update on him and I have posted Paxton's nursery pictures... Enjoy!

Junior had surgery this past Friday, July 8, and anticipating a baby that day/night/next day, since my membranes were stripped Thursday, we boarded him until Monday.  We would have been able to bring him home Saturday but knew that he would get much better care at Gulf Coast.  They are staffed 24/7 with medical personnel (like a human hospital) and we knew they would manage his pain and comfort level. We spent the weekend setting up  an area in our house for him.  We knew he would have to be confined for a while and wanted to be ready.  Since Paxton was still cooking on Monday we decided to go ahead and pick Junior up from the hospital and bring him home.  Knowing me like you do you wont be surprised to know that I had plan A and plan B in place before we left the house.  My worst fear was that I would go into labor Monday or Tuesday, before we had a chance to get junior settled at the house and really before he was able to be left alone.  I had arranged with Gulf Coast and with another local animal hospital for an emergency drop off if need be.  We received a packet of post surgery instructions and medications for Junior Man and feeling a bit overwhelmed loaded our little patient into the car and headed home... he was so happy :)

Once we were home we quickly had to learn how to help him, what to let him do on his own, how to work around the halo (haha) Elizabethan Collar to be exact... how to get him to take his medicine, how to get him to eat, how to keep him from jumping up in excitement, how to get him settled down, how to keep Lieba away from him, how to keep him comfortable in a confined space, how to help him feel like a dog, how to keep and ice pack on his leg, how to keep up with his medication and more... We have conquered it all and he is doing fantastic! He is still having alot of difficulty walking and his spirits aren't the best 100% of the time but, he is pain free, eating, and recovering.  We are on the road to recovery...

I really thought we would have a sign on the door that says please don't ring the doorbell, new baby.  But, right now we have one that says please do not knock or ring the door bell... surgery patient in recovery :).
The halo...
I made the call to take off his halo when I was by him and could monitor him... it is supposed to be on 24/7 to prevent licking of his exposed stitches but he was miserable in it.  He is doing so good about leaving it alone and it much happier...
Frozen peas... he is so good... he just lays there with it on...
Spent time outside with Matthew today... We could both tell it made him feel better :)

Thank goodness he is healing and doing well...  we are so lucky to have had such a fantastic surgeon do his surgery and blessed that he is recovering as well as he is! I will keep you updated with his progress!

Paxton's Nursery!

I sure hope family and friends will see it in person when they come visit (hint hint) , but here are pictures just to chronicle all the hard work and love we have poured into his room! Enjoy...
Baby gate to keep out the animals... working awesome!

I cannot wait until he is here and I am rocking him in his nursery...

I have read to Paxton every day since I knew he could hear me and plan to continue until he starts reading to me!
 We love these signs...

No we don't plan on leaving things in his crib when he is sleeping in it :)

 Paxton's well, My, diaper bags...
 Babysitter, and Matthew's diaper bags...
