What a crazy, wonderful, tiring, overwhelming, joyous, blessed and loving past 2 weeks!
We brought our sweet baby home on Saturday, my birthday, July 16th and have been on cloud nine (aka walking zombies) since :)
Nothing prepares you for the feelings that come over you when you become a mom. No one tells you that your heart swells with more love than you ever imagined it could hold. No one tells you that you learn to appreciate your own parents more because you finally understand the love they have for you. No one tells you how much you will appreciate your family - especially those with more then one child. No one tells you that you that you will fall in love with your husband all over again and no one tells you how amazing it feels to know you created the miracle that looks at you so lovingly every day. It is an overwelming love... Actually... people tell you all of those things but you dont believe it until it happens to you.
I am not going to say these 2 weeks have been easy... they have not... rewarding, yes... easy... NO... :)
I really dont think we could have gotten through these first 2 weeks without some very key things...
1. My parents - they were there for it all and kept us sane
2. Our family and friends - I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderul it felt and how
much it helped to get emails, texts, and visitors welcoming Paxton and just supporting
us.
3. Ice cream
4. Laughing
5. Our pediatrician
6. Ice cream
7. Naps
8. Food
I am sure I left something off of the list but for now this is all my brain could remember.
My favorite things about being a mommy so far are... the morning when Paxton first wakes up and just wants to snuggle and love... after he nurses and without fail will smile (melts my heart)... watching Matthew be a daddy... being the only one (sometimes) who can console him :)... afternoon naps on my chest (him not me) ... the warm and fuzzy feeling I get every time I pick Paxton up and he scrunches his little legs up and arm fits just right under his little tush.. I never want to forget how he feels in my arms.
My favorite memories so far are... the sweet smell of a clean baby... snuggling in bed with my two favorite men in the mornings... getting pee'd on for the first time.... getting vomited on then bathing him only to have him pee, hit the top of his changing table and drip all over him(all I could do was laugh) ... Paxton's first soccer game... watching my parents love on Pax man... his first mexican food trip... his first Sunday James Coney Island trip... reading him his first book out of the womb... loving on him and kissing his sweet cheeks
We are so blessed with such a beautiful baby boy. Our journey into parenthood hasn't been the easiest just yet but we are enjoying every second.
Enjoy the pictures....
