Easter came and went so fast this year. It felt so super early. We spent alot of time celebrating Easter with family and we were looking forward to seeing Paxton enjoy egg hunting and his Easter basket. It's so funny though. We were more excited about Paxton hunting eggs than he was. He could have cared less. We just knew he was going to love picking up and collecting Easter eggs but oh no. He was disinterested and really not even willing to try. We had 3 hunts. One with our neighborhood, one with the family Easter party and then one at home. Each time I kept thinking, ok, he'll do it this time. Nope. Oh well... we did collect an arsenal of jelly beans which are his fave and basically gave our kid a sugar high when he consumed no less than 50 during Easter Church service. He enjoyed Easter on his level - running around with the other kids and looking cute in his Easter clothes (which I never managed to capture since we forgot to take a family Easter photo on Easter day, what is wrong with me?).
His Easter basket on Easter morning was a big hit though. It's so precious to see his interests unfolding. Golf and automobiles are truly at the top of his priority list - with a tiny obsession with Mickey Mouse. From the time he wakes up in the morning until bed time, his little world revolves around "golfing" and "driving". Matthew and I enjoyed Easter on a whole new level, watching his little joy and smiles over a silly little basket full of his favorite things :)
I look forward to each new holiday as his understandings of them develop. Easter is a sacred holiday in our house and its meaning is so far beyond eggs and Easter grass. As he gets older and his understanding of Easter develops I look forward to seeing his relationship with Jesus get stronger and while I am hopeful he will grow to love hunting for Easter eggs, I am even more hopeful that as his parents we teach him why we have Easter to begin with.
A tennis court full of eggs for little ones
Anyone see Paxton? Well... he is the kid running around on the court, without a basket, not a care about getting eggs :)
High five from daddy for listening and coming back to us when we called him!
Mouth full of jelly beans asking for "more"
Swinging with daddy
Playing chase on the tennis courts
Ready for pool season :)
Well, Hello Easter Bunny!
Not real sure about the Easter bunny, yet
High five for the Easter Bunny
Kisses for the Easter bunny!
Wise Family Easter Party (all babies sitting still thanks to candy!)
Same babies a year before :)
Mouth full of jelly beans
Easter Morning anxiously awaiting our little man to wake up and see his basket from the Easter bunny!
Jelly beans, finger puppets, etch a sketch, bubbles, coloring stuff, golf clubs, mickey mouse memory game
We point at everything!
And.... we go for the golf clubs first!
This happens to be the only Easter picture I have in part of his Easter clothes :)
Until next time... lots of love!
