Preparing for Santa - Christmas Part 1

Preparing to celebrate Christmas with children is THE best! Everything Is magical, fun and new.  At 2 and a half Paxton loved decorating and re-decorating his little Christmas tree up until February, when he finally allowed me to take it down.  He was so proud of himself and quite obsessed with snowmen this year (hence the snowman tree) and also really liked Nutcrackers.  We're not big into Santa, he is a great guy but Santa isn't near as important as the birth of Jesus so while we talk about Santa, we talk about Jesus a lot more.   Another one of his favorite things to do was play with his manger scene at Pammie and Opa's house and play with his manger scene magnets at our house.  We talked with him about the Christmas story so he became quite obsessed with Mary, the Angel and baby Jesus.  Brinlee, well, she didn't do much this Christmas season except bring us joy and lay around and look really cute :)
Check out that pose :)

Leading up to Christmas day we attended Christmas in the Park in my parents neighborhood.   Pax got to play with snow and meet Santa and Mrs. Clause (she was awesome).  I attended this same community event as a child so it was really special to experience it with my Pax and my parents.  I know they loved seeing him enjoy it and he loved being with them.  He got to eat a "pake cop" (aka bribery to leave) - any guesses as to what that is?? Cake pop :) SO cute.
Pax has a crush on Ariel - he was initiated into Disney movies and saw The Little Mermaid over at Pammie and Opa's house.  He was amazed I knew the words to all the songs - it came out in 1989 - I was 3... OMG!

Matching PJ's - cuteness overload

Paxton developed a nasty ear infection, unfortunately.  He doesn't get them very often and wasn't all that sick other than a minor fever and loss of appetite.   But, while giving medicine has been sort of an ordeal the past year or so, not any more! "I do it myself" :)
Nursing in the car - seems to happen quite frequently - thank goodness for dvd players.  Paxton has been so patient with this.
"North Pole train mommy!" Thank you Lowe's!
School Art  - this will go up on my tree every year now

Rice Krispie Tree's - Pax was an excellent little helper!

Christmas program at school - he didn't perform but we sang along to Christmas carols and he loved the falling snow at the end.

The annual Wise Family Christmas.  Very different this year - mostly because my Grandma wasn't there.  She passed very soon before Christmas so we were all still healing.  Her presence physically was missed but I know she was smiling down from Heaven watching us all celebrate.

My mom and Grandpa putting a puzzle together.  He has Alzheimers - but they thoroughly enjoyed this time together.

He loves babies and always has

Pammie and Opa have the Polar Express around their tree - PURE MAGIC

Neither one of my kiddos were a big fan of Santa this year.  This Santa was rude too - I complained and told their staff he needed to be more jolly.  We'll try to find a nicer Santa next year.

Pax doesn't quite get the anticipation factor of Christmas day yet, but we sure did enjoy Christmas festivities and getting ready to celebrate Jesus's birth!
