Turning 4 - Paxton's Birthday Party

What an amazing weekend!

Paxton's birthday party this year (July 11th) was a Paw Patrol swim party (his choice). Nothing against themes but I've never been a big theme, character, graphic Disney t-shirt kinda gal so this was a big step for me allowing this Paw Patrol party come to fruition :)  It must be a pretty popular party theme in the pre-school category because it wasn't easy to acquire everything Paw Patrol.  He does love all things Paw Patrol though so we made it happen.

Now for anyone who knows my husband, his motto in life is pretty much "go big or go home" so never-mind the pool in our backyard, lets get a gigantic 20 ft water slide, YEAH!  I actually didn't like this idea at first but then I may have said it was a great idea after the fact.  I may have.  No worries though- everyone survived, no one broke any bones and the grass underneath of it didn't die - whew!

Paxton had all week to get excited about his party as I was preparing little by little each day for the big event.  We (the kids and I) even went to this lovely party store in Conroe on the East side of 45 (if you live near me you probably just said whoa) and while we attempted to purchase a paw patrol pinata (which they didn't have) Paxton ended up insisting on a dinosaur theme one.  Again, I bit my tongue through a smile and gladly purchased a lovely t-rex.  We were so excited to welcome family and friends into our home for our first child's birthday party in the new house.  I've always loved home parties and I was looking forward to the personal touch of a party at home.  I tried to take as many pictures as I could but I get a bit frazzled in the craziness of parties so I missed a few shots I would have liked to get - like one with me in it.  HA.  I have many more photos I didn't post that I will always love and cherish.

"Mom, take my picture with all the pups"

Sister had a Paw Patrol dress made - couldn't pass it up!

Pre-party playing

Oh wait - who is that? That's my other kid

THE cake.  Y'all.  He wanted a lookout with the elevator and slide.  I knew I couldn't pull it off so I found someone that could and boy was he happy.  Forget the party - we could have had JUST this cake and he would have been over the moon :)  JK but seriously - this cake was awesome both inside and out. Thanks to Sugar Bakery who did a fabulous Job!

This is my Grandpa.  He is an amazing man who sometimes remembers who we are and sometimes doesn't.   But you know what? He lives life with so much joy and gives so much love. I am so thankful to my aunts for bringing him and even more thankful my Pax will know my grandpa and his Great Grandpa.

BLUE eyes

Can you guess what part Paxton wrote? Brinlee and him worked very hard on their message.

Meet T-REX.

Sister woke from her nap just in time to party!

Sparkler #4 - it was pretty cool!

Poor T-Rex - Yes those are dog leashes holding our pinata up - we keep it real classy.

Gift time - this is a very chaotic thing to do during a birthday party.  I welcome any tips or advice on how to maintain some order during this time of a pre-school party :)  Side note - one of my favorite parts of the party was the slide show we had playing on the TV in and out of the house.  It was so easy I just picked out a handful of photos from each month of the past year, ordered them by date and then (Matthew) saved them on a USB flash drive and inserted it into the port on our TV - easy!  I love photography and I am one of those moms always taking pictures.  I just can't help it and its times like these I am thankful I am the way I am because I sat and had a good cry watching the slideshow.  Going in order of our year it was as if I was re-living him growing up this year. As someone who is very sentimental (but none of you already knew that) I cherish the pictures I have of my kids and our family.  I think this will be a new tradition at birthdays!

THE lookout from Great Grandpa and Grandma Griffith - he has wanted and asked for this for months.  He was so excited!

New baby cousins  - Aunt Tina and Aunt Kim were REAL happy with these little loves all day :)

Cousins - I love that they play so well together now.  At 3 weeks a part - I pray they grow up to be as close as I was with my cousins.

Pammie and Brinlee  - I think they look alike here

It did rain when the party was "over" but as you can see - it didn't make much of an effect on the kids.

All of the party guests got to adopt a puppy, name it, pick out a collar and take it home.  Paxton named his Ryder :)

The party weekend continued on until Sunday with family that stayed the night.  The kids all stayed up way to late giggling in bed but the smile and joy from being together as a family is totally worth it.

I know everyone doesn't believe in, agree with or appreciate big birthday parties but in our family every life is a precious gift and worth celebrating BIG.  Paxton is a gift that we get the honor of raising every single day.  We are so blessed to have so many people in his life that love him and pray for him as he gets older!

4th birthday party success!
