We have been doing alot to get ready... the room is almost done... we have a few more things to do and then it will be perfect! I spend time in his room everyday reading to him and just soaking up all of his "stuff" (I know, I'm a dork - I just can't wait!). We have been staring at a boxed pack n'play for about a month now and this past Saturday we decided to tackle it. OH MY - let's just say yes, we are still married and yes, we are both still alive! Why the heck do they make these things so difficult to put together. We got the crib aspect of the pack n' play up in no time... but the changing station and the bassinet and the newborn sleeper... it kicked our butt! We did manage to get it all done and I love it... the newborn sleeper comes out and mimics a Moses basket. I can take it where I am so that Paxton can be with me and then it snaps back into place for sleeping at night. Here it is all nice and snug in our room (for now).
We completed our child birthing class... trust me... it was VERY difficult to get through! We literally felt like immature teenagers when it came to "acting" out certain situations and practicing the "relaxation techniques". Don't get me wrong, Bobbielynn (yes, that was our instructors name) was very knowledgeable... but she was WAY more into childbirth than we were. Matthew was supportive and attentive (most of the time) but wanted nothing to do with the extremely graphic videos. He wants to be up north with me and with the exception of cutting the cord, wants to see nothing else. God willing... I will labor at home until I am at a "4-1-1" (4 contractions, 1 minute apart for 1 hour... yes, I listened and learned :)) but I do not, I repeat, do not plan on having this sweet boy all natural. I want to enjoy his birth and the labor process... I want my family there and to have a party. Not cooped up in a room alone with the lights off, moaning with tranquil music on.... just not my style! I do feel very prepared if for some reason I do have to labor naturally or have a c section, for that I am grateful! We did some really cool activities to learn about how contractions work (this involved a balloon (the uterus) and a ping pong ball (the baby)) and we both learned probably way more than we needed to. I laugh about the class only because of how quirky and liberal our instructor was, but truth be told... she did relax me about the labor process! See our proof below! :)
This past week we took maternity pictures! We captured some very special pictures to commemorate our journey and excitement. Although these pictures are more for us than anyone else, I can't wait to share them with the people I love. We realize that life and pictures will be all about Paxton once he is born, but for the past 8 years its been all about Matthew and I and these pictures really kind of sum that up. Here are a few - the studio is still working on some of them :).
Most valuable baby!
This will be colorized - everything will be black and white except "Its a boy!"
Until next time... lots of love!
