You have your hands full!

I am just going to rant here a minute.

"You have your hands full!"

Do you mean literally or figuratively?!? Oh - just kidding- both.  Would you like to hold a kid or a bag?

When someone (usually strangers) looks at our family, or when I am alone with both kids, navigating the aisle's of Target, or I just tell someone I have 2 kids under 3 they 99% of the time say  - in a very "aw what a shame" voice, "You have your hands full don't you?" And let me just say - both of my kiddos are well behaved and given its not meal or nap time, usually happy and pleasant - so its not like they are wailing and acting like wild monkeys.

Yes... I have my hands full... I have my hands full with 2 sweet kids who are my greatest blessing.  No, I don't want to hear "Just waaaaaaaaaait until they're teenagers"  Really?!? As if being a parent isn't hard enough you are going to sit here and tell me all the bad stuff.

I just don't get it.  I don't get how people can be so negative in regards to having children. I am sick and tired of the assumption other people make when it comes to having kids.  It was a choice and a prayer of ours to have children.  I count my blessings every single day and while being a parent is hard... the joy way overshadows the tough times.  Most of the time people commenting on how full my hands are, are people who have children themselves.  Do you not have the ability to remember what it was like to be a young mom with 2 young kids? Why not offer to pray we get through these tough years... why not compliment my parenting versus breaking down my spirit... cant you see I'm trying to be a happy, organized, fun and safe mom?  All I can say, is down the road when my kids are older and we're out of these precious young years I will make it a mission to lift up moms like me and intentionally choose not to bring negativity.

I have my hands full but I choose to look at it as I have my hands full with 2 kids who are learning, growing, challenging and loving me everyday.  Its a heck of a lot better than having my hands empty.

If you think my hands are full... you should see my heart!

BOOM!

End rant.
